THE OPERATOR’S EDITA PRIVATE BYLINE / A PUBLIC POINT OF VIEW
its place?

TOOLS / SYSTEMS / BETTER QUESTIONS
The
Operator.
I look past the feature list. I want to know what a tool solves, what it adds, and whether it deserves a place in a working day.
Useful tools. Sharp judgment. A suitably raised eyebrow.
Observe. Question. Keep what works.
01 / OBSERVE
Find the friction.
I start with the interruption, not the shopping cart. What is getting in the way of the work?
02 / QUESTION
Look past the spec sheet.
Compatibility. Upkeep. Tradeoffs. A clever feature is only useful when the whole setup makes sense.
03 / KEEP OR SKIP
Earn a place. Or leave it.
A useful review should sometimes talk you out of a purchase. Keep the tool you already own when it does the job.
BEHIND THE VISOR
A perspective,
not a perfect desk.
I’m The Operator. I lead the AI function at a company and write here about the tools, systems and small decisions that shape a working day.
This is my place to think beyond a product’s feature list: what it helps with, who it suits and whether it deserves space in a working setup. I’ve tried the products in the original collection and reviewed the recommendations published here.
The journal is where I work through ideas about AI, automation, buying decisions and the way we organize our work. The Kit brings those ideas back to the objects around us.
I keep my identity private. The point of this site is the perspective, the tools and the reasoning behind the choices.
The illustrated character is the visual signature of my private byline.
